Catch the sunshine, not the UV rays.
So, there are tons of sunscreens out there. I've always been using sunscreen, but honestly, I wasn't a big fan of Western brands. Some were too goopy, others too watery, always ending up in my eyes and some were leaving that annoying white cast with a weird tacky film. Luckily, sunscreens have come a long way since then. I have fallen in love with these Korean sunscreens. I listed the ones that I've tried and always come back to.
Beauty of Joeon Relief Sun:Rice + Probiotics SPF 50+ PA++++
So, this is my first love! It's creamy yet light, never feels heavy on the skin, and absorbs well without leaving a white cast. It's more suited for people with drier skin, which I find perfect for the colder seasons. It's not oily at all, just super comfy on the skin. The best part? It's packed with rice extract and grains from probiotics. However, if your skin is sensitive to probiotics, you might want to skip this one. Always do a patch test before trying it out. It's also noncomedogenic and loaded with goodies for your skin. Check out the ingredient list on INCIDecoder.com.
Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun:Aqua Fresh Rice + B5 SPF 50+ PA++++
So, this one is a bit more runny and feels super light on the skin. It absorbs quickly without leaving any greasy residue or white cast. It gives a fresh and weightless finish that you can layer up. The star ingredients in this formula are rice seed water and soothing panthenol. It's great for oily or combination skin, and I swear by it all summer. Plus, it's non-comedogenic and packed with good stuff for your skin. If you're curious, you can check out the full ingredient list on Cosdna.com.
Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum SPF 50+ PA++++
This sunscreen is definitely one of my absolute favorites for summer. It's great for oily combination skin, but don't worry, it's hydrating too thanks to the hyaluronic acid and skin-soothing centella asiatica. Plus, it's packed with green tea and other amazing ingredients. It's not heavy, oily, or sticky at all. No white residue, and it's super creamy yet light. It absorbs quickly and leaves your skin feeling plump and glowing. Check out the full ingredient list at INCIDecoder.com.
Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Air-Fit Suncream Light SPF 30 PA++++
So, this one has a lower SPF, but it's like the name suggests - Air-Fit. It feels super light on your face and doesn't feel sticky or oily at all. It's really refreshing! Plus, it's made with 100% Zinc Oxide and centella asiatica for soothing the skin. You can find the full list of ingredients on INCIDecoder.com.
Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen SPF 50+ PA++++
This awesome product is super popular in South Korea. It's kinda similar to the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Rice+Probiotic one, but I feel like it's a bit lighter. The key ingredient is birch juice, which hydrates and soothes the skin. Plus, it has hyaluronic acid and niacinamide to make your skin radiant and fight aging. The texture is like a soft cream that feels lightweight and gets absorbed easily by the skin. No stickiness or oiliness, just perfection. See the full ingredient list here INCIDecoder.com.
Scinic Enjoy Super Mild Sun Essence SPF 50+ PA++++
So, when my skin barrier is acting up, I reach for this awesome product. It's got niacinamide and seven different plant extracts in it. It really helps with the skin when you outdid yourself the night/day before. They say it gives you eight hours of moisture, but I slap on sunscreen so often that I can't really vouch for that. The product looks creamy, but surprise - it's actually more of a watery essence kind of thing. And even though it's light, it does a great job of hydrating and refreshing your skin, plus it gives you a nice cooling feel when you put it on. Check out the ingredient list to see how skin-friendly this product really is. 😊 INCIDecoder.com
Dr. Ceuracle Hyal Reyouth Moist Sun SPF 50 PA++++
This one is awesome for oily combination skin. It has frutan which is known for helping with the skin microbiome and calming distressed skin. Plus, it's packed with ten types of hyaluronic acid to keep your skin hydrated, along with niacinamide and a bunch of other good stuff. You won't have to worry about feeling greasy, sticky, or having a white cast with this one. It sinks into the skin easily. It's kind of like an essence, similar to the Scinic one mentioned earlier, but with a creamy texture when you squeeze it out of the tube, yet it feels watery and light. The ingredient list is impressive, but it does have a fragrance, so just a heads up. Also, it's the most expensive out of all the sunscreens we've talked about. INCIDecoder.com
Tocobo Cica Calming Sun Serum SPF 50+ PA++++
This one is super light and has a watery texture. Perfect for summer! It gives an instant cooling effect, which I find really refreshing. It's the most cooling one I've tried, plus it's not sticky, greasy, and does not leave a white residue. I love that it contains aloe, such a great ingredient for calming and cooling the skin. It does have a fragrance so be aware of that. The ingredient list is also amazing, with soothing ingredients like centella asiatica, madecassoside, and hyaluronic acid. INCIDecoder.com
Don’t forget to slap on some sunscreen! If you're aiming for flawless skin, you gotta shield it from those brutal UV rays. I personally slather on sunscreen every 2-3 hours, whether I'm indoors or outdoors. And everyone’s skin is unique, so always do a patch test before going all in. I like to share my honest thoughts on products and point out the ones with the cleanest ingredients. Transparency is key!
